Industry 4.0 introduces what has been called the “smart factory,” in which physical systems become Internet of Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the wireless web. While this comes with many benefits, it also exposes pharma manufacturing systems to various cyber threats.
When it comes to pharma4.0 manufacturing, Industrial Control Systems (ICS) must function exactly as intended. Any unauthorized change to the manufacturing process, whether a malicious act or human error, can result in contaminated products, months of re-validations to resume production and heavy financial losses. Yet very little has been done so far to protect these critical industrial systems. In this session we will examine the challenges a global pharmaceuticals manufacturer was facing and review how these unique challenges drove the selection and implementation of an industrial cyber security solution. We will also discuss best practices for driving increased security and validating pharma manufacturing processes.

The results of each conversation are recorded on white boards and available throughout the event for people to see and reflect on.
